The Postgraduate Department of Computer Science has started an innovative add-on course "Certificate in Web Designing". The course covers the basics of web designing, HTML, javascript, creating menus and galleries, and web hosting. The course spans 75 hours spread across three months. Prof. Arockiasamy, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, is the co-ordinator and the tutor of the course.
The certificate course on "Web Designing" was began in August, 2012 for the first batch. The students were given hands-on training in designing a website. The best part of the course is that students build a web site as they learn the concepts. During the last week of the programme, students uploaded their sites (that they created during the past weeks) and made them available online. Students' performance was assessed on three criteria: (1) the level of their skill in designing a site, (2) their participation level (attendance), and (3) their performance in the course-end test.
Dr. C. Veerabahu, the Principal, presents the course completion certificate to a course participant. |
